Workshop: Legitimacy Beyond the State

Sean Donahue organized the Legitimacy Beyond the State workshop with the help of support from the ANU’s CMSPT coordinator Garret Cullity and Seth Lazar. The aim of the workshop was to advance philosophical research on legitimacy as a normative concept that can apply to non-profit organizations, international corporations, interest groups, and other non-state institutions. The workshop featured presentations by various researchers that explored philosophical issues related to the legitimacy of these social arrangements, including work in progress on the legitimacy of social media platforms by the MINT Lab’s Sean Donahue and Jake Stone.
