Iason Gabriel is a Staff Research Scientist at Google DeepMind where he works in the Ethics Research Team. His research focuses on AI value alignment, distributive justice, language ethics, human rights and the ethics of advanced AI assistants.

Before joining Google DeepMind he taught philosophy at the University of Oxford and also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Lebanon and Sudan. He holds a D.Phil in political philosophy from the University of Oxford and has held visiting research positions at Harvard University, Princeton University, the World Bank and the University of California, Berkeley.

He is especially interested in the relationship between AI and human values, and in ensuring that AI technology works well for the benefit of all.
