Lo is a researcher specialising in conversational AI, with a background in engineering. She obtained her PhD in conversational AI, on the topic of social and emotional response generation applied to customer service. Her doctoral research was carried out as a collaborative effort between public research institutions, Télécom Paris and INRIA, and a private company, providing her with a perspective on both academic and applied industrial research. This allowed her to gain experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating conversational AI systems in real-world settings, bridging the gap between theoretical models and practical applications. 

Her current research interests revolve around the ethical dimensions of conversational AI and the broader societal implications of these technologies. She is particularly interested in exploring how generative AI systems shape the ways people communicate and socialise, examining not only their potential benefits but also the risks associated with bias, misinformation, and unintended social consequences.
