Elsa is a political theorist at the University of Oxford. She explores how digital technology influences practices and relationships in the so-called private spheres: the family, friendship, dating, and care. Her recent work explores the politics of dating apps and critically analyses their use of algorithms and the power of tech firms in the digital sexual sphere. In her book project 'Just Sex', under formal consideration by Oxford University Press, she develops a theory of social justice for intimacy.
Before starting as a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, she obtained her DPhil (PhD) in politics in November 2023, from the University of Oxford. She has also been a visiting researcher at Stanford University's Center for Ethics in Society and holds an MSc in philosophy and public policy from LSE. Elsa is an affiliate of the Ethical Dating Online research network.
